The graphic work is inspired by the title and evolutionary theory “Punctuated equilibrium” (Stehen Jay Gould, Niels Eldredge 1973) The artwork consists of layers of silk paper with graphic hand-printed insect motifs. By letting the print hang freely, only mounted between strips of wood, the work gets a three-dimensional effect.

«Skriften på veggen» consists of layered block prints. The motifs are based on insects and their ornaments. In nature, patterns are camouflage. A survival strategy by eliminating the individual, become invisible, and merging with the environment. In art, it is often the opposite, the individual is valued, patterns and ornamentation are seen as decoration.
With this theme as my backdrop, I seek the visual effect of eliminating the individual in a singular monumental shape.
